Curse on Girl in Man's

"I hope you will always have this on your mind for breaking up my and Jim's friendship. I curse you until your dying day."

This passage from a letter written by one of two men found dead in a gas-filled room was read at a Friern Barnet (Middlesex). inquest recently..

The men were Albert George Grimes (26), whose parents live at Mays Lane, Barnet, and James Thomas Rich (21), of Aveton Road, East Finchley.

The Jury returned a verdict that { "Grimes committed suicide while of unsound mind, but found there was not enough evidence to show how Rich died,

FRIENDS SINCE CHILDHOOD Her son had known, Miss Bonner since he was a schoolboy. He was with Rich and Miss Bonner at a birthday party three weeks ago.

Rich did not talk to the girl very -much

towards the end of the evening. Her son and Rich, auld Mrs. Grimes, were devoled.

Miss Bonner, a slimm, fair-haired wenting a green coat with a fur collar, said she had known Grimes

Did he threaten you in any way?— No.

Did he say that he might do any thing to himself?--No, he was just very upset.

Roland Araabaldi, of Station Road, Church End, Finchley, said that Grimes had A room there. Rich used to stay there at week-ends.

On Sunday morning he went to call Grimes and found the room full of gas. Both men were dead.

NO EVIDENCE OF SUICIDE The coroner mentioned that in one note Grimes had written: "We both think we are better off out of the

The coroner said that Miss Bonner had been very helpful.

"What happened at the party was this," he said. "This young man and his friend Rich went there and Rich evidently fell desperately in love with Miss Bonner,

"Rich wasted to meet her, and she promised to meet him on the night he was found dead. Itich possibly told Grimes because Grimes knew about it.

Later she met Grimes and he seemed very upset.
