Colonel Matthews told the Court that the Golf Club took a serious view of the matter. There had been two or three cases before the Magis- rates lately and this was actually the fifth time in the last six weeks that the course had been damaged. The staff had set a watch for these men, whose digging gave them a lot of
work to do. In this case repairing repairs would cost $40 or $50.
Defendant, who had one previous convletion last year, was sentenced to two months hard labour. He was also ordered to pay $20 amends or serve an additional mont!,

The Nippon Yusen Kaisha summoned before Mr. W. Schoßeld at Central Magistracy this morning for tailing to furnish a correct list of departures by the Yasukuni Maru and were fined on February 23,
$25.
Sub-Inspector Edwards said the police had received a letter from a Japanese gentleman saying he was leaving that day and had also been notified by the hotel at which the man was staying, but in the list of departures furnished by the Company the name was omitted.
Mr. Kinsey, of the Trame Depart- ment of the N.Y.K., said his Com- pany had a lot of passengers to han- dle. They always tried to co-operate. with the police and would continue to do so. In this case the, man who had actually handled the vessel was absent. He submitted that a case of omitting a departure was not so serious.
Sub-Inspector Edwards said it was just as bad, as, if the police did not know the man had gone, they might be wasting their time looking all over the place for him.
