Hundreds of gallons of water were wasted when a Taxicab swerved to avold a postman and up- rooted a fire hydrant at the corner of Avenue Edward VII and Kiangst Road in Shanghai. Citywide practice manoeuvres of the Shanghal Volunteer Corps and the Shanghal Municipal Police were highly successful recently. They were conducted in three dixerent districts and although on an extensive scalo caused, no confusion nor any great: excitement among the populace.
