HONGKONG FISH INDUSTRY

ASSOCIATION TO SEK

CANTON'S AID

To enlist the aid of the National Government for an industry seriously menaced by Japanese competition, four representatives of the recently- formed Association of Fishermen and Fish Dealers of Hongkong and South Chino, are leaving here for Canion fc-morrow evening to interview the Provincia: Kuomintang Headquarters there.

"The delegation will, it is learned. place before the Chinese authorities a detailed expose of the fishing dustry of South China. It will show how from the leading position it had at one time occupied parallel to agriculture, the industry has been steadily encroached upon by foreign competition until it is almost on the point of being ousted by these ate: cats.

The Association is serisible of the disadvantages Chinese fishing methods must always suffer by comparison with the thoroughly up-to-date craft and tackle being used, but it snnot see how these deficiencies might be corrected except with the resources which Government alone can provide.
