FOR the second time this season, the Royal Ulster Rifles yesterday snatched victory out of South China's grasp just when it appeared the champions were going to romp away with two league points. Highly dramatic and colourful was this encounter at Caroline Hill which kept a huge crowd roaring and cheering with excitement. Fifteen minutes from the end Rifles were two goals in arrears. Then they quick- ly adopted the initiative, made lightning raids on the Chinese citadel and piled on a couple of goals before the champions knew what had happened. Had the game

lasted another five minutes I am sure the soldiers would have won.

The two big features of the match were Lee Wai-tong's per- fect hat-trick and Irwin's three corners (to take which ke crossed over from the right wing to the left) which were so accurately placed that all three were converted into goals.
