The No. 1 mess boy of the Victorki Leung Bun, aged 21, was brought Gnol Prison Officers' Mess, named
before Mr. K. Keen at the Central Magistracy this morning on a charge of embezzlement by servant of the sum of $58.00 on January 31,
Det.-Sergeant Cochrane stated that on January 31 defendant was hand- ed $38.00 by different persons to be passed on to the mess supervisor. This was part of defendant's duty at the end of every month. On this particular date, instead of doing as ho should have gone, defendant took the money, went to a gambling house In Wanchal and lost it all..
Defendant admitted the charge, saying if he were given 24 hours he could probably refund the money, He was remanded for 24 hours.
