for the morning train to-morrow Canton, where, It was learned from Professor Cheng, he would remain for about a year. The purpose of his visit is to promote economic and cultural relations between South China and Italy, and he will give lectures on law and international re- lations at the University.
CHINA TRUCE CONTINUES

Shanghai, Jan. 25. The truce between the Government and the rebels has continued during the week-end, although minor skirmishes are reported from Eastern Shensi., General Yan Hu-chen's reply to the Government's terms is still awaited.
Political interest centres in the visit of Mr. Wang. Ching-wel to Ferghua, whither he arrived yesterday in order to confer with Marshal Chlung Kai-suck-Renter.

He was on a visit to his mother here when he was taken ill.

ASSAULTED SISTER
Charged with assaulting his sister, Wong Siu-fan, aged 21, at No. 36 Hei Wong Terrace, ground floor, on Saturday, Wong Kon, aged 26, un- employed, was brought before Mr. J. A. Fraser at the Central Magis- tracy this morning, and bound over in the sum of $10 to be of good behaviour for one year. Defendant was ulleged to be an eplum amoker, (and he "asked his sister for some money to buy oplum, and was re- fused. He then took several cups and plates from the house to sell, but was prevented from doing so by his sister. Losing his tamper. he threw song cups at her and cut her on the face, Inspector M. Hourihan prosecuted.

Complainant was carrying a parcel, and the collision caused him to drop the parcel. As he bent to pkk it up, defendant came up from behind, put his hand into Li's pocket, aid extracted thic $18. Ile did it in such a hurry that SB of the money fell to the ground. Li Instantly picked it up, and caught hold of defendant. The other two men succeeded in making good their escape, one of them having in bis pos- session the other $10, which dc- fendant had handed over. There w one previous conviction against Lam.
