German Comment Surprises
CZECH SITUATION
DISTORTED?
London, Jan. 3.
The reproduction in English news- papers of a recent comment appear- ing in the German press regarding alleged conditions in Czecho-Slovakini has caused both surprise and mis- giving here.
Extracts from the German news- paper contain highly coloured vic- counts of extensive Russian influence In the Czech State and repetitions of rumours which more than once have. been
nuthoritatively denied in Prague.
The character of the in- formation used in the German press cemment is too for at variance with the facts of the Czech situation, s they are accepted in this country and generally throughout Europe, that the publicity given to them in a neigh- bouring and friendly State has crent- ed a most unhappy impression on the Engilsh mind.
Enquiries in authoritative British quarters to-day elicited a statement that the views cited from the German press were not in accordance with those held umong well-informåed observers in London.--British Wire- icss.
