Who Is General Astray ?⠀

To the Edler,

Hongking Telegraph.

Sir, have read in the Hongkong Telegraph of January 5, the following Rem:

"What's in a name?-i scc, by the way, that he (Franco) has just appointed a new Minister of Pro- pagaria in his Burgos Government. Believe it or not, the new Minister's Ham is General Astroy"

Should the author of these lines know who Millan Astray is, he would not have written such a thing, For General Astray is one of the most conspicuous and well deserving oBeers of the Spanish Army. He hus brilliant milltary career. During the war in Morocco he was wounded four times. In the third one Astray lost his left arm and in the fourth the right eye.

Nor is it the first time he under- takes the work of Propaganda. In the year 1029 he was Invlled by the Spanish colonies of Argentina, Chile aru Uruguay and in the following year by those of the United States, Cuba and Mexico to give lectures, what General Astray accomplished with great success. Recently, broad-

asting

from Salamanen, he said to soldiers fighting in the sector of Madrid:

"Because you are requetes (young men of the Carlist Party) you are ood Christians, good soldiers and good

Nothing will be more Bentlemen. severely punished than nets of cruelty and plunder. When you enter Mad- rid, you must be vallant, but at the bame time humanitarian and right."

up-

A man of such feelings deserves. I think, more respect on behalf of a Journalist.

M. SANCHEZ.
