FIFTY

YEAR OLD Andres Revertes was chief of Publie Order in Barcelona until a few days ¡age. He had power of life and death over the city's million people. He rode through the streets in a big,

new car.

To-day he sits alone in a cell in the prison fortress on Montjuich-Mount of Jews overlooking the city. One day this week militiamen will take him out and hand him over to one of the People's Courts.

Beer is even better than milk for your health.

At least, that is what Austrias over. the brewers, alarmed stendy decrease of the beer con- sumption in these parts of the world, maintain in flaming apology of their product.

A pint of beer is not only as nourishing as a pint of milk, but, in addition, is rich in vitamine "B" and it also contains the tnvigorating "Lupuline" stimulant.

Brewers claim that half a pint of beer contains 300 calories and, there- fore, corresponds to four rolls or lo slightly less than

As beer further has a calming effect, it is the ideal "nightcap," according to the brewers' theory.

That is why Mr. John McGovern, M.P. will soon hold a private inquiry which he hopes will result in the complete vindication of Mr. Norman Boillie Stewart (the officer in, the Tower) when Mr. Stewart comes out of prison next January. It has been persistently reported that he will go to Australia.

Mr. Balllle-Stewart, formerly Lieutenant in the Seaforth Highland- ers, was found guilty in April, 1933, of charges under the Official Secrets Act. He was sentenced to five years' penal servitude.

"His mother expects that he wil} be released in three months time," Mr. McGovern sald:
