AN AFTERNOON AT THE ROYAL OBSERVATORY

This is the seismograph that has recorded all of the major „carthquakes that have occurred throughout the world in the past few years. Mr. B. D. Evans, First Assistant at the Itoyal Observatory explains how it works to the "Telegruph" photographer.

Temperatures are recorded every hour of the day for 365 days In the year at the Observa-

tory. Photograph shows Mr. Chỉ Wen-kai taking a reading.
