a Decoration Committee comprising Miss D3. M. Lorenzo, Chairman, and Mr. S. d'Asis, and J. B. Vargas, the Rose Room was hung with the Filipino national colours, with the national emblem on the pillars and the Filipino flag, and the portrait of President Quezon at the bend of the room.
In proposing the Toast to the Com- monwealth, Mr. L. R. Ildefonso pointed out the Shields of the Phillip- pines with which the Rose Room wos decorated,
and
said they represented the history of the Islands. In the middle were the Castle and the Sirene embodyingt the Spanish domination until 1098. Surmounting this was the Engle for the United States and the Three Stars standing for the three inain Islands of the Philippines, Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanno. The emblerna had
now been combined to form the present coat of arms of the Commonwealth.
