How to look

look well

URING your first riding lessons the instructor is certain to concentrate on your seat in the saddle.

Until you have a natural, well-balanced seat you cannot have gʊng hands; you cannot, in fact, be a good * rider.

When your stirrup leathers have been adjusted to correct and comfortable length you will be made to wolk round the school. The position of your feet, legn, hands, and body will be criticised.

So many beginners think that a good scat means a still hollow buck with the shoulder blades almost meet- Ing behind. This in all very well for a company al Guardamen on parade, but it is absurd for harking pur- poses.

Your seat in the saddle should be natural and ensy, the carriage should be upright, but not stiff, your body and arms should move backwards and forwards with the movement ĐỂ the horse.

with which you can, in perfect anfety, practise the art of riding without reins or stirrups. A mastery of this art is the shortest cul to a good sent and perfect balance.
