USTRALIAN
Board of Control
A has decided that it needs to dis-
and Eng-
cover youthful talent. Always en- terprising, the Board has this time settled upon a line of netion which has been favourably commented
both in Australia upon land,
For the Australian Eleven to meet the tourists on November 20- 24, provision has been made that no less than six places must be served for youngsters who have had no Test match experience. This will entail a nation-wide search for suitable players, but the value of such a scheme can be seen with half an eye. I means, for one thing, the Australian selectors will have their finger-tip the most promising talent the country's youthful which can be called upon in case of emergency. Cricket is so centralised England and elsewhere, the vastness of the country, being res- posunble for this. The disadvantage is that very often highly promising cricketing material is allowed to run to seed because none of the "big wigs" can ever get within two days journey of these outlying spots. But now Australia is setting out for general round-up, and the value of such a move will be better appreci- ated

it might be added, this meantime, emphasis on the need of taking the English team very seriously is a dis- tinct compliment to the tourists and ahows that Australia, at least, is not under-rating them.

P. XAVIER IS SUSPENDED
As a result of his behaviour on the feld of play against Central British Association last week, P. Xávier, of the Argonauta Hockey Club has been suspended by the Mamak Lengue Committee from participating in the League for the rest of the season.
It was stated that Argonautas had written deploring the incidents and had also suspended the player from further participation.
A. S. Xavler, another player to be turned off the field. In this match, was severely censured. The umpire reported that A. S. Xavier had lost his temper, but had not been guilty of dirty play.
Intimation was given at the meet- ing that a team from the submarines Olle and Odin had been entered in the League, and would play in the "B" Section.
