It is yet too early to talk of results, It has been an excellent affair.50 tar, a stern test of machine and driver.

But why are Drill motorists neg- Iceting this form of competition? It cannot be fact we know it in not- that our motor-ears are not suitable for this art of strenuous aversenk driving. Yet that is exactly what the average continental motorist is think. ing toulay.

LARAMARA is a hummocky Lakeland-mountain as lovely. as its name. It is a height upon which I have spent many happy hours, and one with which I have hitherto considered myself well acquainted.

To-day, however, it has played a prank ou mo and ahora me of over- rescising pride. This morning we climbed out of Borrowdale and up the steep flanks of Combe Gill to the wist- ful Itle Tarn at Leaves, which lies hidden in a hollow between Bossyboot and the crags of Rosthwaite Fell.

A hot molat morning it was, one which would have rung perspiration out of the leanest of mountaineers. It won a day much no that which induced a corpulent climber to remark that the rich colouring of the Lake District was not entirely due to its copious rainfall. The sweat of talling climbers, he con- tended, was also a contributing factor.
