SPLENDID K.O. LAST WEEK
CLEVER FOOTBALL: GOOD REFEREEING AND ORDERLY CROWDS
F
Just a couple of words of thanks to footballers generally for the happy start they made to the season last week-end. And to referees and spectators for the part they contributed. A hat sun produced some honest perspiring, but it also seemed to en- courage some really entertaining football. The two matches watched were very pleasant to the eye: fast and clever football,
EASTERN ATHLETIC MAKE CAPTURE
Eastern Athletic, newcomers to the first division of the Foot. ball League have made a useful capture.
They have secured the trans- fer from South China Athletic Association of Lee Wing-on, whe formerly played inside right for South China's juniors teams, as well as several times in the Grat division "K" team.
It is not likely, however, that Ler will figure in the Athlello team to-day, as the announced side is the same as last week.

A Recreio Dream: Bernie Gosano Left Back: A.V.
Centre-Forward
ME
THEN GOALS & POINTS GALORE BERNIE Gosano, if and when he becomes fit to play, is being visualised as a permanent loft back in the Recreio first division team.
This little surprise packet isn't official, but it comes from a pretty high source and is not to be disregarded.
Recreio have worked it out that what they need is a sound defence composed of the Gosano brothers and Beltrao, and that it only requires a short time for their promising young forwards to develop the goal-scoring habit. Then, Hey Presto! many league points.
The theory may sound a little untenable, but I believe there is something in it. But I would suggest this. That after streng- thening the defence by the inclusion of Bernie Gosano, they put A.V. up to centro-forward. And from what I hear A.V. wouldn't be averse to this. His inspiring leadership and sharp-shooting would probably develop the younger members of the attack much quicker than if they were left to their own devices,

Drown Goes To Wholesale
Right Half
Club, ta spite of last Saturday's brilliant achievement, have made changes for this afternoon, and have selcoled what is generally regarded as the strongest possible team at their disposal.
Skinner is giving place to Drown at right half, and Fleming is includ- ed at inside right.
Otherwise as before. It is not too certain whether Fleming will be available. He was chosen last week, but work prevented him from turn ing out, and the fact that Skinner changed into togs at the last minute saved the day for Club.
Kowloon Changes
Kowloon have gone in for some pretty wholesale alterations for their match against South China "B" tɔ-| day. Dy
Eastman is returning to the de- tence to partner Howen, while thei club's two new players, MDs and Evans have been included. Mills will play at fert half, with Bliss again centre-half and G. While on his right.
W. Knox will all the right wing berth with Evans as his partner. The
rest of the forward line remains: unchanged, with Donald Knox as Ono docan't need to say much more leader and V. White and Honnibal about this team. It is chock full of constituting the left wing. fine possibilities.. The players are If Mills and Evans come up to the getting into their stride quicker and mark and give Donald Knox the ora maintaining a faster pace then chances he wants, there is no reason hitherto. This is largely due, I think, why Kowloon should not snatch at to the lead given by Ernie Strange, least a point froin the Chinese.” The Wilson and Drown, and if Fleming inclusion of Eastman will not weaken fits in with this tempo, I can't see the defence, but Kowloon may miss many local defences holding" out| Boyes, who is succeeded by...
