"A Breach of

·Neutrality"

By A POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT

London, Sept. 20.

Unwittingly the British Government may become in- volved in the intrigues of the Spanish Communists.

News reached London yesterday that Senora Irriburi, the extremist Spanish deputy known as La Passionaria- the passion flower-wishes to visit Great Britain to enlist sympathy for the communists.

Obviously Senora Irriburi wants more than expres- sions of good will.

Her main object in leaving. Madrid is to obtain supplies of `arms, ammunition, and acroplanes.

Conservative M.P.s with whom I spoke yesterday were alarmed at the prospect of Senora Irriburi being allowed to land in England.

From the beginning of the Spanish rebellion Conser- vatives have supported the Government's policy of strict new convinced that if Senora neutrality. They are Irriburi is permitted to visit this country new suspicions will be roused abroad.

REDS JUBILANT

These suspicians would most certainly do considerable harm to the efforts being made to consolidate an all-European polley of non-intervention. In official quarters yesterday there was no firm inchication that the Government intended to take any action. Inquiries in Whitehall ei to the statement:

"We have received no definite information that Seniora Iribori Intends to visit this country. If she applies for permission to us. her application will be dealt with in the, usual way. Its for Sir John Simon to decide whether she is allowed to land."

Communists, however, are jubilant, the next few days, it is possible that WIL make at the prospert of a visit from a leading Conservatives Spanish comrale. A representative strong representations to Me. Bald- of the Communist Party said last win to prevent Senora Irribari from
