WOMAN
ASKS PERMISSION ·
TO HANG HIM
A WOMAN has applied to the
authorities in Auckland for per mission to hang a convicted wife- murderer.
The man she wants to hang is Eric Marco, 41-year-old Australian-born London composer, recently, found Kulity for the second time of the murder of his wife by veronal polsoning.,
The application is without prece- dent in New Zealand.
Meanwhile, the fight for the con- demned man's life is continuing in Wellington.
The likelihood of Mures standing yet u third trial on the charge of poisoning his 20-year-old actress wife, Thelma Clarice Marco, is mug- tested by the fact that his counsel has been conferring with Mr. H. G. R. Mason, the Minister of Justice in Wellington.
To obtain a new trial an applica tion for leave to appeal would first have to come before the Supreme Court at Auckland.
In such an event an application
I would, as was the case after the first trial, be referred to the Court of Appeal at Wellington.
The probable ground of the appli- cation would be that the verdict was against the weight of evidence, par- ticularly the new evidence admitted at the second trial,—Router.
Marco was first sentenced in February, which ho was recommend- ed to mercy. No such recommenda- tion was made by the jury at the second trial.
Pianist, conductor and composer, he is said to have spent most of his life in London and on the Continent. Ale by

The report finds another cause is "the greater expenditure dictated by the modern habits of life on clothes, which leaves too little money for the purchase of proper food."

HERE'S SOME HINTS
Keep the baby in the coolest part of the house, see that his bed is well screened, and if it's extra hot let him sleep naked as a laybird.
Give him all the water he wants, but boil it first.
Don't change his feeding schedule just because it's hot. Keep all bottles and nipples covered; store the milk In the ice box, or tri a large pan of cool water.
