10-DAY I want

-to talk about. looks. But please don't think this is a beauty article. It has to do with health. During long years of ex-

perience I have found that a slight alsfigurement has caused inany patients to feel a senso of inferiority which has shown itself in various nervous symptoms. ·

It may be only a night blemish which. others would not notice, perhaps, but, through constant worry, it assumes abnormal proportions to the person concerned. Some women spend hun- dreds of pounds to have a blemish re moved.

The result of this worry is to make the sufferer feel that she is differcht from everybody else. Bhe either be comes shy and locks confidence, or she assumes a protective cloak of aggres- sion to cover her sensitiveness.

In elther case, these nervous symptoms often react on the general

minor nif- menta.

These cases are just as worthy of the doctor's caro and attention as any other trouble which affects health,

Bears often cause considerable di figurement, but it is almost impossible to remove a scar without leaving Another in its pince. There is no cer- talu cure for them, because they are formed from tough, furuus asue which has taken the place of the skin, ng in the gap between the edges of. the wind.

Skin Troubles

The question then is really one for the surgeon, who may be able to re- pince the existing scur with another whlet is more siglatly. Plastic surgery is a highly skilful art which since the War has brought huppiness to many,

Ekin diseases are responsible for much facini disfigurement. It is 1101 xsible to treat these entes auccess. fully unless the type of rkin trouble is known. This means a medical exain ination.

But there is une type which is par- ticularly common, especially in young people-Acne. In these cases the skin is usually course, sallow and somewhat oily. The tiny pores are enally seen and blickheads are comino11.

Acne shows Itself is large numbers of red pimples, sane with yellow henda, others of the "blind boil" type. Per- manent sears result from many of these pimples, and sometimes the face is marked as though the patient Ind suffered from sinall pox.

Important Hygiene

Acne is often diffcutt to treat. In the young B tends to clear up usually before the age of 20. Fresh air, fresh fruit, green vegetables and ntientiem to the bowels is an important part of treatment.

Cleanliness is essential. Don't be nfraki to use plenty of hot water and a good skin wouj). Carefully, and without bruising the skin, squeeze out all hinck- heads Then wipe the skin with a wenk sobation of peroxide of hydrogen

Its Effect on Health

Where the akh is greasy, ointments should be avoided.

If this treatment fails to have any marked effcet; X-my treatment is often helpful, but it will have no lasting re sults if you neglect hygiene. The skin must be kept clean.

ized nasca may result from a lowered state of the general health, from indi. gestion, or from skin disease. In some casen no cause can be found.

Examination by a doctor is advisable in cases where is trouble exista, It will probably save a great deal of warry and experimenting with reme dica.

Digestive troubles can be corrected by medical treatment, and if the general health in below par, your doctor will be able to put you on the way towards recovery.

Where no cause can be found and the condition must, in consequence, be put down to a peculiarity of the indi- vidual, the best thing to do is to use some form of cosmetic which will hide the disfigurement.

Enlarged tonsils and adenoids fre- quently give the individual, a vacaŋi expression the pinched
