In the qualifying event for the 400 metres in the National Collegiate athletic meet, Archie Williams, of California. broke the world's record for the distance with 46.1 seconds, which beats the former world's record of 40.2 seconds.
Jesse Owens, with a leap of 25 feet 10% inches, won the brand jump, and tied with the world's record.
