BIG LEAGUE TENNIS GAME TO-DAY

Champions To

Be Tested

A mixed doubler league match of prime importance is being played this afternoon when Chinese Recres- tion Clubs are hosts to D.S.R.C. The result is bound have a big bear- ing on the championship as it is, generally expected that the title will be won by either of these teams. Chinese

have Recreation Club ground advantage and this may prove suficient to give them the points. Even so this advantage is largely de- pendent on whether there is a bright sun shining. If the sky is overcant visitors do not experience the same difficulty. With the sun

Both teams hope to be at full strength, and the match will be a big tess for the U.S.R.C. laly players upon whom so much always depends. Virtue Of Skilful Courtcraft

K.C.C. BEATEN BY STRATEGY

(By "Veritas")

Exceptionally skilful courteraft and the ability to turn the slightest opening to full account was chiefly responsible for the Siamese tennis players winning their second match of the tour yesterday when they defeated Kowloon Cricket Club by two rubbers to one. This was a natural follow-up of their decidedly unexpected victory over Chinese Recreation Club on Saturday and was a satisfying demonstration that our visitors are well able to hold their own against the Colony's best talent.

The Siamese players relied almost exclusively on strategy to pull them contested very keen through two nantches. Their loss of the third match was natural. Muang Reong Vasantaisinha and Itanong, tired after a gruelling test against Guest and Grose enuld not maintain the pace against E. C. Fincher and Badiker and lost in straight nets.

The results of the three matcher read:

Sangh Varmankwen and 'racknub Purannnda (Slam) heat E. C. Fin cher and G. Bodiker 7-5, 2-6, 6-2.

This innovation is certain to meet with success, promising as it lees, to provide a much needed attraction.

Mr. But had ind several years of experience in this type of work. In the Philippines and elsewhere he has built up swimming teams in clubs and schools, and will now have opportunity to extend his activities.

In 1931 Mr. Butt was head at the Manila Central High School, taking watire charge of the track and field team and of the basketball squad. As a result the school jumped to the fore- front in the inter-schools competitions. DESIGNED RECORD-BREAKING
