TO BAD LIGHT
Further progress was made in the Lawn Bowls Pairs cham- pion yesterday. Many of the games anded in falling light, and in the match between T. Grimes and W. Weir versus H. F. Stonehem and M. J. Henderson at the Indian Recreation Club, the 'jack' was hardly visible during the last two heads.
The Omar brothers, A. M. and U. M., a former champion of the Colony. encountered little opposition from E. J. Edwards and B. E. Maughan, whom they defeated by 35 shots to neven. The game finished On the 10th head. The match was played on the Hongkong Electric green,
Arst
U. M. Omar was for magnificent form, laying his woods most skilfully. He was ably supported by his bro
finc ther, who fald several woods. The winners scored one five, two fours and five threes in the course of the game and several twos, while the loners only scored on five heads, registering four singles and a three.
The match between H. E. Strange and R. H. Wood vermus M. Y. Adal und A. R. Dallah which was left un- finished with the scores standing at 17-all on the 18th, head on the Hong- kong Electric green on Tuesday, was continued yesterday and resulted in win for Strange and Wood by 20 shots to 18. The loseTI scored a single on the 20th, head, only to see |their opponents lay three shots on
the final head.
T. Grimes and W. Weir defented 11. F. Stoneham and M. J. Henderson by 20 shots to 18 on the Indian Re- creation Club green, despite the fact that the loners were losing by 13 whois to 11 on the 12th. head.
The scores were invelled at 13-all on the 13th. lead, and thereafter the losers only scored on two more leads, reglaterng a single, and a four on tlie last head. The winners scored on 11 heads, scoring mainly by twos, while the losers scored two fours and a three.
TACCHI AND BASA WIN
On the Police R.C. green,. C. J. Tacchi and R. Basa had in runaway victory over F. K. Delgado and Dr. V. Atienza, winning by 29-11. They led most of the way and scored a six on the fifth head. Two fours later on gave them a long lead, which they maintained to the end.
R. H. E. Marks and W. E. Hol. lands, of the Police R.C., gave a good account of themselves against L. C. R. Souza and K. F. Luz, of the Crai gengower C.C., on the Hongkong FC. green. Three abots down with three more heads to play, they scored two singles in the next two heads. Souza, playing lend for Luz, put one wood dead on the jack, however, and in the failing light, Hollands was unable to dislodge it.
upper hand and never looked back. The winners obtained their shots on 12 heads.
MATCH ABANDONED
The match between F. Cheeseman and J. G. Gill and W. L. Walker and II. H. Rose on the Kowloon Docks Freen was abandoned owing to the 13th rain which started after the head was played, with the score stand- ing at 13 shols to in favour of the latter pair. The play was not of a very high standard, with Rose the beat player of the four. The leaders obtained a four on the first head and led all the way, scoring on eight heads.

from a scratch player though he gets his correct stari of 30 if he meets a 16 handicap player. As the Obscrver's correspondent points out "the aboll- tion of the table of differential odds has deprived the bad player of a further advantage that he ought to obtain. Possibly in time he will ge: all his former advantages back again; In the meantime he may be grateful for the partial concession extended to him.
