This 400-foot dyke constructed of abandoned motor car bodies and river rocks is saving a motor-car camp owned by C. D. Barry at Yakima, Wash., from being washed away by Yakima River flood waters. Threo hundred of the bodies have been put into the effective dyko at a very low cost.

Major-General A. W. Bartholomew, General Ofeer Commanding British Troops in China, called on Mr. II. E. Arnhold, Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Council at the Administration Building last week. A guard of honour from the Russian Regiment S.V.C., was on hand and was inspected by the British Officer.
