BERLIN DENIES CAUSE FOR ALARM EXISTS

Vienna, April 29.

It is understood that the 5,000 Austrian troops stationed in the Tyrol at present are about 85 per cent. above the normal garrison requirements.

Two battalions of Styrian infantry have arrived at Ried, Upper Austria, near the German frontier.

Well-informed circles emphasise the movements of Austrian troops to the provinces adjoining Germany are not due to any fear of imminent trouble, but the inter- national situation in Europe is regarded as such that aggravation of the crisis is possible at any moment. It is therefore thought necessary that Austria should be prepared for an emergency.

It is learned on high authority that the reinforce ments are intended to remain in their present billets all spring and summer.
