CORONATION WILL DIFFER FROM OTHERS

London, Apr. 20.

The Coronation of King Ed- ward in May next year-is likely to differ in saveral respects- from that of his father and his grandfather.

The ceremony may be cut by ‚one and a half hours to only two

hours..

1

It is possible that the oath, administered in the form of a question to the King by the Archbishop of Canterbury at the coronation ceremony, will have to be changed slightly to conform with the altered status of the Dominions and their re- intlon to the King since: the Statute of Westminster (1931),

King Edward is the Sovereign not only of all his Dominions, but of Leach and separately. The Irish Free State has been born since the fast Coronation.

The form of question to which King George V. answered I solemnly pro mise no to do" was this:-

"Will you solemnly promise and Hwear to Govern the people of this United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and the Dominions, the thereto belonging, according to Statues In Parliament agreed on, and the respective Laws and Customs of

the same?"
