A.D.C'S NEXT PLAY

“LOVERS' LEAP" TO BE PRODUCED

By way of a complete contrast to their last production, **Musical Chairs," the Amatour Dramatic Club are offering Hongkong theatre-gvers a comedy which, for sheer humour, might almost be described as a farce. "Lovers' Leap," by Philip Johnson, is included in the volume "Famoun Plays of 1934-1936," having been

first produced in Liverpool in June 1934, and subsequently in London in Octo ber of that year, when it onjoyed -a deservedly successful run. The cleverness of the

lies not su play much in its theme as in the wit and markle of its dialogue, and in ita excellent acting qualities; qualities of which our local amateura promise to take full advantage,

The play will be presented at the China Fleet Club Theatre on the nights of April 18, 16, 17 and 18. at 9.15 p.m.

The cast includes Jelen Prior, Myrtle Brown, Jane Weller, Donald MacAllister, and E. G. Smith-Wright, who producing the play.

"Lovers Leap" does not protend to be a serious play-It presents no problem and it does not even set out to be entirely credible. It has how- ever all the requisites of a first class and thoroughly laughable comely, and, in these days

of tainty and pessimism, the A.D.C. are to be congratulated on the selection of something which will draw no tears from the audience, unless they bo tears of mirth.
