expenses, amounts $15,319.04 which, added to 464.08 brought forward from last

$287 necount, makes a total of $382,784.02. The nut profit, as compared with that of the previous year, shows decrease of $23,324.40. This in due to the continuance of the general de pression which has affected all rentals. In the Colony. There is China Buildings a large number of vacant rooms, including the whole of the eighth floor which has been un occupied for over a year. Another reason for the decrease in the net profit is the increase of $10,000.00 in the appropriation for Reserve for Depreciation China Buildings. This step was taken on the advice of the Auditor of the Company, who considers that in these bad times, with the future so uncertain, it would be advisable to adopt a conservative policy in regard to reserves, 1 trust that shartholders agree with this no- licy. Against this decline in rental, I am glad to report that our over. head expenses have, by the exercise of strict economy, aven reduced by over $7,000.00.
