British Action at Once to Reach Agreement

In has been announced that the Australian Commput- wealth Government has rejected Britain's plan for the England-Australia air mail service, and Mr. Lyons, the Prime Minister, states that the Cabinet has decided to retain control of, and responsibility for, the Sydney to Singapore air service.

This decision has astonished the officials of the British Air Ministry and the Post Offee who drew up the great scheme in 1934-before the England-Australin air race aroused a demand for faster services.

Unless a compromise can be arrived at the plans affecting the Australian route will have to be recast. The proposals which Australia

has rejected were for the ac- celeration of services on

of all first-class mails by air without surcharge.

of a plan for the greatest deve lopment in the history of world air transport.
