THE Air Ministry have placed a very large order with Vickers (Aviation), Limited, for a new type of super-warplane for the Royal Air Force, built on a secret principle so revolutionary that its full significance is not yet clear even to experts.

Paris, Feb. 3.
The world's largest seaplane, the Lieutenant de Vaisseau Paris, was sunk in a gale during the night while riding at anchor in Pensacola Bay, off the Florida coast. No one was on board.
A squall of terrific force suddenly bit the 37-ton 'plane and lifted
it into the air. It soured like kite at the end of its mooring cable, and then overturned, plunging to the bottom of the bay.
The news of the calamity to the machine, which was built for a regular service across the South Atlantic, was received by the Air Ministry in a telegram from the commander, Capt. Bonnot.
Capt. Bonnot stated that attempts were being made to refloat the 'plane. Latër messages, however, revealed that divers had found that the engines were embedded in the mud and that one wing appeared to be damaged.
The 'plane, which crossed the South Atlantic two weeks ago as a test for a regular service, has 12 double cabins and can carry 30 passengers in comfort approaching that of a linor. She has six engines.

The difficulties facing the modern doctor in China were re- ferred to by Dr. Douglas Guthrie, at the annual meeting to the Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society recently
Dr. R. A. Fleming, President of the Society, said it was true the ordinary income did not meet the ordinary expenditure, but the financial path had been smoothed by the reception of a quite ex- traordinary number of legacies.
Moving the adoption of the roport and accounts, Dr. Guthrie, ja director of the Society, in an account of a. visit paid intely to Australia and the Far East, spoke of medical practices in China to-day, where the need for doctors in rural districts, in which there was a poor financial return, was unspeakably great, though there, ware hospitals and doctors for the rich.
