DIED ALONE CYNTHIA STOCKLEY, at the
height of her fame as a writer of popular novels, solved for others many human problems in print. Fame dwindled: At the age of fifty- eight a problem of her own defeated her.
She was found dead in a gas-filled room of her flat in Pembridge-crescent, W., this month. A length of rubber tubing led from a gas bracket
to her mouth.

Her books were not selling well. She had not published a novel for two years.
