FAR EAST LAWN BOWLS ASSOCIATION PROSPECTS Encouraging Letter From President Of The E. B. A.

S. Chin

Doubtful: Club Hopeful: Police Confident

OUTLOOK FOR SENIOR SHIELD

(By "Veritas")

If you go along to Caroline Hill and ask South China sup- porters who are going to win on Saturday they will shrug their shoulders enigmatically and answer "Who can tell?" If you slip down to Happy Valley and enquire about the Club's prospects you will be quietly told "We hope to pull it off". But if you visit Police Headquarters and push out a few questions about chances you will be met with a stream of confident assur- ances that the Police are not only going to win this week, but are a safe bet for the Shield.

We shall probably know the true Kuwwern on Saturday evening, in the meantime perhaps we can form a few opinions ourselves.

Seriously I don't think we ran lake last week's longue match between South China "A" and "" as any fsir indicator of their Shield meeting) this Saturday.

And I am led to observe this despite the fact that Lee Wai-tong is again standing down and Wong Wing a doubtful starter for the seniors. Even without these two talented players the "A" combination can, and should win. In fact I am certain they will win by something like a three goal margin.

(By "Veritas").

With all due respect to the Chinese teams, I feel the best and most entertaining football of the Senior Shield semi-finals on Saturday will be supplied by Police and Club at Causeway Bay.

I was their own fault they lost such a handsome lengue record, but. will: Fung King-cheung and Ip Pak-wa back in the team it is in- credible

if the "A" victory.

Club did not finally decide on the composition of the side until they had lengthily discussed the possibility of including a new player to the Colony by name of Wilson, who comes here with on It an impressive record as a play- ing member of the well-known Scottish league team Queen's Park

Park Strollers. Unfortunately a water-logged during the week when the playing assembled for practice gave the selec tion committon no opportunity for satisfying themselves about Wilson's abilities as practice was confined to u kick about in the middle of the pitch.

Incidentally Lee Wal-tong is standing down on his own initiative, He requires a complete rent from the game for some time. He is not suffering from physical fojury

That the scheme for the affiliation of a Far East Lawn Bowls Association to the International Bowling Board has not only a good chance of being favourably received by the I.B.B. in July, but that it will be given the whole-hearted support of Mr. W. Arsenal Win Cup Replay

CHELSEA-FULHAM DRAW AGAIN

London, Feb. 19. Arsenal advanced to the quarter- finals of the English Cup to-day when they scored a clear-cut victory in their fifth round replay with Newcastle at Highbury. The Gunners, who are favourites for the Cup, won by three goals to nil, and have now to entertain Barnsley in the sixth round.

Once again Chelsea and Fulham failed to settle their F.A. Cup tie, a second goalless draw resulting. The match this time was played at Stam ford Bridge, but the Pensioners failed to take advantage of home ground advantage--Reuter.
