IN TO-MORROW'S MATCH

S. CHINA TEAMS MAKE CHANGES

(By "Veritan")

Neither Loo Wai-tong nor Pau Ko-ping are playing in to- morrow's league clash between South China "A" and "B" at Caroline Hill. Several changes in both teams have been effected, notable among them being the return of Lau Mau to left back, and the trans- ference of George Tsang from centre-forward to right half in the “B” team.

The "A" outfit is trying a new left winger, while the "B" are introducing a new player on the right wing.

Despite these changes there should be some spirited and entertaining Tootball to watch in this rehearsal for the Senior Shield semi-final which follows next week.

It is not likely the "A" team will lows their 100 per cent. record, but wil most likely seize the opportualty, to consolidate their position as leaders of the first division.

Here are the teams which expect to do duty.

Here is the Canadian skiing team which is taking part in the Winter Olympics at Garmisch. Thay re attracting a great deal of attention not only by their skill in this difficult sport, but by their start.

(By "Captain Foster")

There was really a good attendance of inter ested owners, rail's critics and racing enthusiasts at the Happy Valley over the week-end and also on Wednesday morning to watch the gallops, and there were some eye-openers, especially the performances of the Derby griffins, Honeymoon Eve, Thunder Bay and Silversmith. The Sub- Criffins such as Mountain View, The Gorilla, Unicorn and Wild Cat gave their usual display of form and the chief feature of the "Aussies" was the outstanding gallop of Centre Court. The Dunlin and Yo Ho went well over the Champion Course. With the exception of Centre Court,

all others were galloped on the Grass Course and same will not be open again until the race days.

It is not to be expected that there will be any

more long distance gallops, and from now onwards, we shall certainly see some fast sprints over n mile or under just to tune the

FANLING NATIONAL

NEXT SUNDAY'S MEETING

MY SELECTIONS

:

(By "Captain Foster")

There were several handsome dividends paid out at the win- ter meeting held at Kwanti on February 2, but, I am afraid that at the Grand National meeting to be staged on Sun- day, the "divi” will be on the small side.

It was ten years ago that the Inaugural moeting of the Fanling Hunt Club was held at Kwant on five February 15, and thero word races on the card. The main event was, of course, the Fanling National (8 was then known) over a course of two miles, and to farther the in- ferrat, H. R. II. Prince George, now Duke of Kent, kindly donated a hand- some Silver Cup to the winner. The first classle was won by John Smith and was ridden by Mr. F. A. Pollock. There was no change in the condi- tions of the Fanling National, run in the following year, but in 1028, the distance was altered to two and a quarter miles and the ovent nanted the Fanling Grand National. However, two years later, the Fanling Club suffered a great loss in their founder and master, the lato Dr.
