DISPLAY BY MRS. WILSON
(Continued from Page 8) / Miss Dorothy Round when they played in Hongkong, Mrs. Wilson" was merelless in her accuracy, and the only things to overcome such brilliant driving were ability to take the net and effect cut-off volleys, or high-grade anticipation and positioning behind the baseline: Mra. Dowling was insuficiently. endowed in either direction.
་་
Mrs. Wilson is not only one of. the bardest, if not the hardest hitting player in Hongkong, but she.is a stylist. Hier strokes are pleasantly effortless. So much so that, they carry with them decep- tion. It is only when the ball acuda yard out of past the receiver reach that one appreciates the pace and wonderful accuracy of them.
The winner was never seriously this did not threatened, but encourage her to take things ensy, She was always adopting the Din-initiative, cleverly changing direc
tion. adding und subtracting speed, and prepared to wait for her points If the occasion demand- ed. In so doing she demonstrated a well-rounded all-court game, and It is awfully hard to conceive her being beaten in the Anal.

ONE PLAYER IN PICTURE
It is not being unfair to the loser to say there was only one player in the picture. This is but an acknowledgment of the ex- cellence of Mrs. Wilson's display, an excellence which makes her prime favourite for the title. It is also worthy to bear in mind that Mrs Wilson has been showing this form consistently for the last few months, and because of this one. feels it will require a complete reveranl, of form for her to be denied the championship.
Mrs. Wilson's best stroke yester- day was a raking forehand cross- court drive. Against. Mias Han- fenck this will become a punishing shot to the left-hander's backhand. Miss Inncock's "problem Will therefore be to offer a suficient defence to this stroke to work up a position for her own favourite angled drive. Whatever else the final next Saturday promises to be a keen and fascinating battle of wits.
