NE Wal-fong, 24, married woman, was brought before Mr. Macfadyen at the Kowloon Magistracy this morn ing and sentenced to four months hard labour for possession of 210 counterfeit ton-cent pieces.

Detective-Sergeant Goodwin stated that on February 1 defendant wa arrested by a Chinese detective at Fuk Wah Street near Shek Kip Mei Rond Shanghaipo. The woman was walk- ing, along and had over her shoulders long shawl which reached down to her knees, and had her arms folded. The detective stopped defendant and told her that he was arresting her an auspicion of passension of counterfeit coins and took her back to the police station. She was searched at the station and was found to have $21 in counterfeit ten-cent pieces in a hand- kerchief which she held under her. firm. She told the palice that she had; been asked to carry the ening by a man whom she did not know, and was pro- mised fifty cents for her trouble.

Chu Wong, money-changer, slated that the coins were all counterfeit, and by their colour witness could see that they were all made practically of zine. Witness had been in the money- changing trade for seven years and had given evidence in Court several times before.

Defendant, when questioned, stated that she had been given the coins to carry by a man, and was promised a few ten-cents for doing so. She was to have taken the coins to Wai Ching Street.
