IT is becoming increasingly

clear that Great Britain is not to be allowed to esta- blish a commanding position. on the Atlantic airways without a struggle.

Other nations are beginning to" realine that the North Atlantic line in likely to prove the most remunerativè of all the world's air lines, and they are, making preparations so that they shall be វ៉ត . position to compete with Britain.

An agreement has been reached between representatives of Im- perial Airways and Pan-American Airways for co-operation in the running of an Atlantic air line by way of the Azores and Bermuda; but there la a body of opinion in America that belleves that Ameri- en should free herself from all commitments and run her own air lines independently.

The recent success of the new Pan-Amerleun flying boat, the China Clipper, on the Pacific crossing has encouraged this opinion, and it is held that the American lines should retain complete freedom of action, so DN to be able eventually to establish all-American nir lines going right round the world.
