London, Jan. 31. A considerable increase in the number of fires in London last year, and in the amount of damage done by them, and of fatalities resulting, is shown in statistics published of the London Fire Brigade.
Total number of calls, including false alarma and special, services an swered by the Brigade, was 0.598, as compared with 8,831 in 1934.
Lives lost totalled 93 against 73, and persons injured 664 agajast 561. Total loss caused by are in 1935 amounted to £1,804,875, as compar- od with £408,365 in previous year.
Towards last year's total the fire at the Colonial Wharf. Wapping, was responsible for £490,000——British Wireless.
