With hundreds of spectators lining Broadway, the Bund and Nanking Road in Shanghai, the Lancashire Fusillera marched in laat wook to take the place of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Below-families of the officers and men, who had preceded the troopship H.M.5. Deraetshire to Shanghai, greated them warmly. A zwarm of Chinese beggars at the Hongkaw Wharf were also glad they had met the arrivala; they were rewarded with coins ranging from Hongkow coppers to good English shillings.
