Dessie, Jan. 12. Eye-witness accounts of the recent fierce fighting in the Embaralasie region on the Shire were given by two Italian N.C.O.'s and two privates who were captured in the battle,

The captives had been warned on no account to-surrender as they would be mutilated. They were therefore surprised when they were nasured that they were in no danger and were led to an officer who treated them very courteously.

Ethiopian accounts state that the fighting tasted from dawn till dunk. They surrounded an Italian force con- sisting of 1.000 Eritrean under Italian officers supported by nine Lanics.

At dawn the Ethiopians started firing on two supply lorries from an nimbitsh and one officer and 14 men were killed.
