Paris, Dec. 1. The midget or vest- pocket cruisers and tor- pedo boats which have been SO adopted by the Germans have started the French! wondering whether the idea could not be applied to underwater craft as well.

Far from building a navy on the same lines of that of 1914, the Germans are busily putting | together one that is radically different, paying greatest stress to speed and flexibility, Ger many startled the world in 1930 with her vestpocket cruisers of 10,000 tons each. Two are com- pleted and two others are being constructed.

This year Germany again sprung a surprise by introducing the vest- pocket torpedo boats, also known as flying boats or death boats. They have a displacement of 200 tons and are capable of attaining a speed of 65 miles per hour.

New York, Dec. Canada's Dionne quins are to become film stars. That is official: Contracts have been signed between their chief guardian, Mr. David Croll, On- tario's Welfare Minister, and Twentieth Century Films.

They will appear in a picturę called "The Country Doctor," based on their own lives and that of the physician who saw them into the world, Dr. A. R. Dafoe.
