Such a chance came when the Elise

Schulte wont ashore off the Germant Count and was battered to pieces in the heavy swell. A camera-man was there and took his chance. He went out in the lifeboat to where the wrecked shipley with her back broken. He took pictures of the work of rescue by the lifeboat-men-

The Elise Schulte was a ship of about 5,000 tons built in Northum- berland in 1913. She wai bound from Lutea in Sweden, at the hand of the Gulf of Bothnia, Into Emden with a cargo of 7,500 tone of iron

ore. She went ashore on the Reef of Juist in the East Friesian ialanda. Heavy seas were running and the vessel-broke her back-and-became a

total loss.
