HONGKONG ORDINANCE

The Gazette contains the draft of an Ordinance to amend the Probates Ordinance, 1897.

The object of this amending Ordin- ance is to substitute provisans, relat ing to the sealing of probates and elters of administration granted by British Courts outside the Colony, based on a model Ordinance enclosed

with the Secretary of State's Circular despatch of the 15th August, 1978, for the provisions of Part VI of tho Probates Ordinance, No. 2 of 1807, relating to the same subject.

TELEGRAPH. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1935.

Part VI of that Onlinance pro- vided for the re-senting in the Colony of probates and lettern of administra- tion (including confirmation in Scot land) granted by courts of probate in the United Kingdoni, British Mr. Malcolm MacDonald, former Courta in foreign countrlen and Bri- Secretary of State for the Colonica, tish possessions, but in the latter crae who is to become Secretary for the only where the legislatures of auch Dominions as a result of Cabinet possession bad made provision for

changes, reciprocity (see section 70 of Ordin- ance No. 2 of 1807).

In the sald Circular despatch the Secretary of State pointed out that though the principle of reciprocity

in embodied at present in the United Kingdom Legislation the subject,

on section 1 of the Colonial Pro- [ན་༠ bates Act, 1892), it is desirable to retain it in the Colonial legislation, which he suggests should follow, in

I parts of the Colonial Empire, the lines of the model enclosed with the Circular despatch..
