Convicted and ench fined $100 by the Kowloon Magistrate, Mr. W. M. Thomson, last month, on a charge of assnuit, six. Chinese, un- Buchessfully brought an. appeal wuninst their conviction before the Chief Justice, Sir Atholl MacGregor, at the Supreme Court this morning.
The appellants were Chung Nga- Isai, Chin Stuen, Kam Muk-chun, Tsang Lam-kun, Yeung Lam-tal Ch Kongr who were convicted for- nasaulting Lau- Mo- Jung, Chairman of the Chinese National Athletic Association.
Mr. Hin-Shing Lo, instructed by Mr. J. M. Hall, appeared för, the appellante, and Mr. W. I. Lackhart- Smith, Assistant' Crown Solicitor, wan for the Crown. The respond- Cenit, Lau Me-lung, was not in Court.
At the outset, Mr.. Lockhart- Smith said the respondent was ab- gent, but he asked that the appeal le provveded forthwith in spità of that. According to Section 101
