Sir, My determination in using these ink-drops on the first day of my first visit to this Colony is an unexpected miserable thing that I have most unfortunatoly

cross. Fascinated by the numer- ous talks of the beauty of the Island, I counted hours as days through my whole voyage until the lovely morning scenery presented to meet my eyes on the President boat steaming into the harbour. The natural beauty of the Colony alone is worth my trip. But I am stili adamant in airing, my grie vance against repeated searching of. my baggage upon my arrival.

Searching is to curb smuggling: und as a traveller I do not expect to be made an exception in regard to my baggage. On Friday moru- ing, at the Kowloon Wharf, fter disembarking from "McKinley my baggage was stopped by the Euro- pean Revenue Oleer for carrying out his perfunctory duty. As a maiter of fact, this European Benguet Consolidated, $10,60 n. caused me less inconvenience than
