Mrs. D. J. E. Farmer, whose death in the Channel Islands was announced yesterday, was the widow of the late Mr. William Farmer, an old Hongkong resident, and at one time proprietor of the Victoria, Hotel, Shameen.

There was laid on the table at the Legislative Council meeting, yesterday afternoon, the, Report on Education in Hongkong, writ- ten by Mr. E. Burney, one of His Majesty's Inspectors of Schools, fow who visited the Colony a months ago for the purpose of making recommendations on local education. The repart. is publish- ed by the Crown Agents for the Colonies, and is dated May 27 last. The following is Mr. Burney's chapter hended Summary and Re- commendations":
