CALLOUS PIRACY

VICTIMS' HANDS BOUND BUT FIVE ESCAPE

A callous set of piracy was revealed to the Water Police yesterday by a report that a Chinese jurk had been, robbed bỷ men who were belloved to be making for Hongkong.

The Water Police received ani indication as to identity of the miscreants and effected an arrest In the harbour, almost opposite. the Harbour Oflee, at about noon yesterday.

It is stated that the victims were in a junk In Chinese wätern whom they were uttacked and

over-powered by a, pirate Junk. Fivo members of the crew escap ed, presumably by jumping over- board and swimming, but two are * missing. It is alleged that the piraten lied the hands of their victims before throwing them overboard.

The police were unable to give further information as investiga- tions are still being pursued, but It was stated last night- that one man was being held on suspicion and that the junk and its cargo had been recovered.
