Blood of Jekal, a'tuberculosis ridden monkey "frozen to death" and brought to life by young research chemist, bas offered one of the most amaz- modern ing possibilities in

medicine.

Jekal's blood, tested for tuber- culosis three days after he had emerged from his brief "death". showed no trace of the disense.

Dr. Ralph S. Willard, former Columbia University chemist who has experimented for five years in reviving animals after they had been selențifically, "frozen to death," said he would not regard the result of his tests as final until they had been re- peated two or three times,

"I used the 'complement fixation test to measure the presence of tubercle baccili," he said. "The result was negative, but it is pos sible the freezing might have changed blood conditions slightly."

"If my operation la perfected- and believe' within two years;; with co-operation of some electri- cal manufacturing house, it will be ready for treatment of humans -there will be no.1lmit to the time a person may remain 'dead' ", Dr. Willard said.

"My immediate objective is to use the method to cure diseases. but there is no reason, of course. why it could not be used for other purpose to store away prisoners, or even prevent suicide.

"If a person got sick of this life, all he would have to do is take the treatment, get him- self packed in an ice-box and stay there until some future time when he might expect to find life more agreeable."
