At the Gloucester Hotel yester day afternoon, Surgeon Licut. Commdr. W. E. Loftus-Brigham, R.N., one of the judges in the Telegraph Amateur Photographic Competition, addressed a large number of enthusiasts on, the sub- ject of amateur photography gen- erally, with particular reference to this year's entries.

Conmdr. Brighum pointed out that the object of these Competi- tions was to encourage amateur photography and to provide, a vehicle for the expression of art In one of its most interesting forms. He expressed the opinion that the quality of photography as revented by the exceptionally ne collection of pictures on exhibition was of the highest standard, In some cases even excelling that of the professional.
