LITHUANIA'S STAND

London, Sept. 10. The Lithuanian Government has] now replied to the joint represen- tations made in Kovno at the end of last week by France, Great Britain and Italy, regarding the forthcoming elections in Memel,

In London the reply is regarded as generally satisfactory. It is understood the Lithuanian Gov- oramont-has-issued-a-public_de-. claration on the subject.

In the Lengue Assembly at Geneva to-day the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, M. Lozornuitis referred to the Memel question and the recent speech of the Ger man Chancellor. The Lithuanian Government was not asking the League of Nations to take up the question but he said he was con- vinced that a certain declaration which had been made elsewhere was of a nature to disturb the good atmosphere that should prevail between nations. Lithuania would continue in her levotion to the Lengue which, he added, was not only an organisation for settle ment of disputes, but could also prevent them.-British Wireless.
