The Air Ministry has given a

big order for a new type of light bomber, of which the prototype has proved capable of a speed of about 275 m.p.h.

Single-seat fighters of about the same speed, but with re- markable performance all round, are nearing the trial stage.

The origin of this light bomber a twin-engine commercial mono- plane was a British firm's plan. to test the new sleevo-valve" type of engine.
