Under the heading of "The Beginnings of Technical Educa- tion in Hongkong," Mr. G. White, B.SC., A.M.L.Mech.E., of the Hongkong Technical Institute, outlined the comprehensive plans made for the training of young people for trade and Industry, in an address to the Rotary Club yesterday.

The need for this subject in the Colony was officially recognised by the Governor, Sir William Peel, and a Junior Technical School was formed which will begin to turn out apprentices next year. The detalls of the new Trade School on Polytechale lines were also discussed.
